About the Library

The Murphree Law Library was established in 1957 by a special act of the Florida Legislature (Chap. 57-1118). It is housed on the fourth floor (Rm.413) of the Alachua County Family and Civil Courthouse. The Library was renamed the John A. H. Murphree Law Library in 1979 in honor of the former Circuit Judge who was instrumental in establishing it. He served on its Board of Trustees for many years.
The Murphree Law Library is located on the fourth floor of the Alachua County Family Civil Courthouse in Room 413. http://maps.google.com

The Library receives the vast majority of its funding from Alachua County. Revenue is also derived from criminal conviction fines, charges for photocopies, print and fax services, sale of Family Law packets and rental of Continuing Legal Education (CLER) CD’s to attorneys.
