How does a case manager differ from a case management conference?
The Family Court Case Manager is available by phone to answer procedural questions regarding your case. The Case Manager will not answer legal questions or give legal advice. An Alachua County case management conference is a hearing with both parties present before the Judge to address concerns about their case.
What is an Alachua County case management conference?
It is a short meeting before the judge which all parties to the case are required to attend. Some issues that may be addressed at the case management conference are; setting or resetting the time of trials; coordinating the progress of the action; pursuing the possibilities of settlement; or referring the parties to mediation. At the end of the case management conference, the court generally orders the parties to take the next step necessary to keep the case moving. A case management conference is scheduled for a short amount of time, usually ranging from 5 to 15 minutes.
Who orders an Alachua County case management conference?
The Court will issue a Order Scheduling Case Management Conference. This is always signed by a judge and mailed to all parties in the case. It gives the location, date, and time of the Case Management Conference.
