PARKING ASSIGNMENTS AT ALACHUA COUNTY COURTHOUSE

CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER



            Whereas, the Alachua County Courthouse Criminal Justice Center has 100 parking spaces, which must be assigned and reassigned from time to time by the Chief Judge of the Eighth Judicial Circuit; and

            Whereas, the judiciary desires to promote carpooling by court employees.

It is therefore

ORDERED

            1.         Court security shall be responsible for maintaining and distributing all gate cards.

            2.         Five (5) spaces will be set aside for carpool-qualified employees. Employees are required to submit an application to the Chief Judge for a carpool assignment.

            3.         Six (6) spaces will be set aside for ADA-qualified employees. ADA-qualified employees are required to submit an application for an employee ADA parking space to the Chief Judge.

            4.         All parking assignments will be made by the Chief Judge by separate memorandum and a record of the current assignments will be kept on file with the Court Administrator's Office.

            5.         A parking pass designated for a particular parking space shall be delivered to the individual or constitutional officer to whom a space or spaces have been assigned. The individual or employees of the constitutional officer assigned to the particular space or spaces shall be responsible for the use of said cards. Parking in a space not assigned to that parking pass is prohibited.

            6.         These assignments and any exception to the above policy are subject to modification to meet the needs of the court. The undersigned, as chief judge, or the designated chief judge, shall have exclusive jurisdiction of any requested changes.

            5.         No employee of the court who has a parking space assigned and approved by the chief judge, shall be denied entry to the courthouse parking lot at any time during the week or on weekends, regardless of street closing or any other public event. The only exception to this would be if a security risk is present at the courthouse sufficient to prohibit the entry of employees into the building.
